Women’s lives
The idea behind the photos of different Norwegian ”bunader”, is to bring focus on tradition and customs. Bunad is the name of the traditional Norwegian costume. It is a tradition which is still upheld in Norway, and nowadays we are experiencing a renewed use of the costume. The beautiful embroideries on the colourful textiles are manufactured by women from all over Norway, and the quality and craftmanship is exceptionally high. They are used by both women and men, and they are connected to specific geographical areas. In the Art Work ”Bunad” I have transferred flowers and patterns from my own Graffer bunad which I have inherited from my grandmother.
