About Ingunn Vestby

Textile art is my field of work. I work with both tapestry and embroidery. In the loom I mainly work with extreme enlargements of patterns from nature. I am not focusing on the recognizable in nature. My embroideries are a combination of textile and painting. I embroider, draw and paint on canvas. Imprints are added as an important part of the process.

An object from nature is repositioned. Painted dried twigs are perpetuated by being welded directely on the surface. The elements I use from nature are forced into an image frame in a desired form, and materialize in a tactile and physical way. I am not focusing on the recognizable in nature. I am challenging a well known shape, a well known object. I try to search for shapes and patterns, the relationship which is in everything and everyone. A textile interpretation of nature.
